Chicharito and Chucky lead the Mextranjero march today in Europe
Javier Chicharito Hernandez and Hirving Chucky Lozano started the respective games in European competition on a hectic day for the Mextranjeros today.
Chicharito gets the starting nod again.
After scoring his first La Liga goal this past Sunday, Javier Hernandez got his third consecutive start for Sevilla in his team’s 1-1 draw versus Valencia. Chicharito played 85 minutes for Sevilla today and has enjoyed getting the opportunities he lacked at West Ham last season.
Araujo starts for Celta, Lainez, and Guardado come in as subs
Nestor Araujo continues to be a top option for Fran Escribá, and once again, he played the entire match in Celta de Vigo’s 2-1 defeat versus Real Betis. Andres Guardado and youngster Diego Lainez aren’t getting the same opportunities as Araujo, but at least Lainez did see some action after he came into the game in the 79th minute. Guardado also came off the bench in the 62nd minute, as Betis went on to get the victory.
Chucky starts but can’t find the goal
In Italy, Hirving Lozano continued to get playing time for Napoli and started in today’s game. However, the Mexican star failed to score in the fifth consecutive game that he’s seen action, and little by little is beginning to lose the trust of skipper Carlo Ancelotti. Lozano has already been left on the bench twice in the last four games. It will be interesting to see if Ancelotti continues to have patience with Chucky or relegates him to the bench permanently.
Tecatito plays the entire match for Porto
Jesus Tecatito Corona played the entire game for Porto in their 1-1 draw versus Maritimo. Despite not being one of the top scorers, Corona continues to enjoy continuity at Porto. Tecatito has started in all nine of Porto’s league games this season and has been without question a go-to-man for head coach Sérgio Conceição.
