The 27th Season of MLS continued this Sunday February 27, as LA Galaxy faced 2021 MLS Cup champs New York City FC.

The Angelinos opportunity for a goal came at the 17th minute. With a cross by Marco Delgado, Raheem Edwards takes a shot from the left side of the six-yard box but, the attempt is saved by NYCF’s Sean Johnson.  The home team continued to attack but kept stumbling against a strong NYC defense and prompt goalkeeper.

After a scoreless first half,  both teams made their return to the pitch to battle for those 3 points. The clear chance for “Chicharito’s” first MLS goal of the season was at the 67th minute. With a pass by Nick DePuy, Chicharito took his shot from the left side of the box and once again it’s saved by Johnson.

Sparks flew when at the 90th minute “El Chicharito” finally scored for the LA Galaxy. Raheem Edwards gave the game-winning assist, as Javier took a shot from the center of the box to the high center of the net scoring the lone goal of the game and giving the LA Galaxy a 1-0 lead.

With a final attempt to tie the game New York City took a shot in the 90+3. Assist by Keaton Parks, Heber takes a shot from the center of the box but missed to the right.

LA Galaxy maintains the record of 6 unbeaten home matches leaving NYCFC with 0 points on the road. New York City FC prepares to face the Whitecaps on March 5th while the Angelinos get ready to travel to North Carolina and face the new MLS Franchise Charlotte FC also on March 5th
