Chicharito on target as Sevilla beats Apoel in Europa League
Javier Chicharito Hernandez scored for the second time in as many Europa League games for Sevilla as the Spanish defeated Apoel 1-0 on Thursday afternoon.
Chicharito has gained the confidence of Sevilla manager, Julen Lopetegui and has seen action in the team’s last four games.
Hernandez scored in the 17th minute of the game on a rolling cross that was sent by Munir El Haddadi. Chicharito, as usual, put himself in the perfect position to tap the ball into the back of the net. That would be all the home team would need as Apoel was unable to create any real threat.
Lopetegui pulled the Little Pea out of the game in the 79th minute amid a standing ovation from the home crowd. The goal gives Chicharito a boost of confidence, and it’s likely he continues to be called up to Sevilla’s upcoming games.
