Chivas Crashes Against Correcaminos in Copa MX
Chivas and Correcaminos shared the field today in Estadio Akron for the fourth round of Copa MX. It proved to be a very tough night for Tomas Boy’s squad. After coming home from a tie against Cruz Azul, Chivas struggled to get past Correcaminos.
Although the night didn’t look so bright for Guadalajara, the very first opportunity for goal came by the way of young Chivas talent, Fernando Beltran. At times it was an even game for both teams, in which the rival visiting team also showed they had what it takes to win the game. A shot taken by number 7, Cordova, from Correcaminos put Chivas in a tight spot during the game. A ball possession that throughout the first half ended up favoring Chivas, was not enough to put them ahead of the scoreboard. Both teams left the first half with a 0-0 draw.
During the second half of the match, Chivas and Correcaminos showed a sense of urgency in taking the three points home. After a slight defensive error by “El Rebaño Sagrado”, Correcaminos took advantage and opened up the scoreboard 1-0 at minute 86 thanks to Rodolfo Vilchis. Chivas found it difficult to get back into the game and fell against their rival, leaving them 3 points behind. Los Rojiblancos will have to wait for the rematch when they play against Correcaminos once again in the next round of Copa MX.
