Chivas defeat Toluca on the road with a doblete from Alan Pulido
Chivas de Guadalajara defeated Toluca on the road for the first time since the 2011 Clausura, thanks to two goals from Alan Pulido.
The home team took the advantage early on the match at minute 13th. Felipe Pardo hit the target on a long pass from Federico Mancuello.
Javier Eduardo Lopez gave Chivas the equalizer on a cooperative play at minute 33. On a combination of short passes, Alan Pulido assisted La Chofis Lopez, who took a left-footed shot on the center of the box and put the ball in the back of the net.
Pulido gave the visitors the 2-1 advantage at minute 37. He received the ball on the top right corner of the 18-yard-box, controlling the ball with his left foot and blasting it with his right. Toluca goalkeeper Alfredo Talavera couldn’t do anything to stop Pulido’s powerful shot.
The second half started with lots of action. Chivas came back with the same rhythm that they closed the last minutes of the first half. Only two minutes into the second half La Chofis made his way into the box, leaving his defender behind and taking a shot that Talavera beautifully saved.
At the 77th minute, Alan Pulido did it again with excellent control of the ball, he megged his defender and blasted the shot from the top of the small box, and the ball went in under Talavera’s feet and put the score 3-1.
Pulido reached nine goals this season with his doblete, making him the top Mexican scorer in the league so far.
Las Chivas reached 19 points with their victory, but they can’t clinch a spot in the playoffs. Despite that, the 3 points are significant as they continue to battle relegation.
