Cruz Azul continue to lead the Guardianes 2020 season as they defeat Necaxa 3-0.
Discovering the strategy with which Robert Siboldi has commanded Cruz Azul seems like an easy task, although neutralizing it is a titanic task. Tonight, La Maquina once again demonstrated that its mentality has changed, led by the Uruguayan strategist, and a resounding 3-0 over Necaxa gave it more arguments to carry the illusions of all its fans.
In the 35th minute, Josué Reyes was in charge of starting a perfect play. The center-back filtered an excellent service to Orbelín Pineda, who served Rodríguez and allowed him to arrive without complications in a face-to-face match against Malagón. The Uruguayan beat the goalkeeper very quickly, and thus they went to rest with 1-0. Sosa wanted to respond with Maxi Salas instead of David Cabrera, but it was of very little use to him. On the other hand, Cata made it 2-0 in a corner kick taken by Cabecita. The ball traveled to the small area where Luis Romo lowered it for Domínguez, who in solitude defined the upper right corner of the Rayos.
Necaxa never recovered after that, and La Maquina extended the lead to 3-0 with Escobar, who ended up pushing the ball after a corner kick recovered by Pineda to leave the set play that Romo continued with an excellent cross to the Paraguayan.
With the game already in hand, Dante decided to make changes. Orbelín Pineda, Yoshimar Yotún and Escobar himself came out for the entry of Alexis Gutiérrez, Elías Hernández and the debut of José Joaquín “Shaggy” Martínez La Celestial. Another batch of changes arrived in the 75th minute with Rodríguez and Santi destined to rest, and in their place were Alex Castro and Milton Caraglio. Time passed, and Cruz Azul was looking for another score to make it four, however, they failed to convert.
La Maquina established itself at the top of the tournament after a few hours before, America had reached them with 13 points. Still, this victory puts them as a solo leader and unattainable with 16 points. “This includes a +9 goal differential. With this match, Cabecita Rodriguez has now scored five goals in the last three games.” Rayos continues with an inconsistent pace that has left them a harvest of eight points.
