Cruz Azul dominates Tigres in the first leg of the Guardianes Liguilla
As the quarter-finals’ first legs are coming to a close, the excitement gets real. Tonight was no different, as Cruz Azul put on a show against Tigres as they stood out on the pitch with a 1-3 victory. Let’s run down tonight’s matchup and how the teams performed.
Tuca Ferretti’s team had a match they soon will want to forget. Despite being the dominant force on the pitch and had some great statistics, they fell short. With possession of the ball being at 72 percent and having 17 shots and 6 on target, they only managed to score one goal in the second half. They had many opportunities cut short by Los Cementeros, and their defense struggled to contain them from getting in the box.
Cruz Azul took advantage of every opportunity they got when they had the ball. They opened up the score first in the 30th minute of the match with a goal by Juan Escobar. After Los Felinos had tied them, Cruz Azul’s second goal came at the 54th minute by Johnathan Rodriguez.
