El Chucky starts the game for Napoli, but they fall to Cagliari
Since scoring a goal in his debut versus Juventus, Hirving El Chucky Lozano has been unable to impress Carlo Ancelotti. The Mexican star played 66 minutes today in Napoli’s 0-1 Serie A defeat at the hands of Cagliari.
Chucky played a decent game, had a couple of opportunities to score, but was unable to get back on the scoring track. Fernando Llorente came in for Lozano as the team from Naples continued to look for the victory. Llorente and Lozano have seen themselves subbed out of the last several games for each other. Napoli’s modifications didn’t pay off as Cagliari would end up scoring the decisive goal on a diving header by Lucas Castro in the 87th minute.
The defeat is a massive blow for Napoli as they lose to a mid-level side and are unable to gain ground in the standings. Yes, it’s early in the season, but these are the results that could potentially hunt them later in the year. As for Lozano, the result ironically will allow for him to be sought after by Ancelotti as Llorente was unable to deliver.
I don’t expect for Ancelotti to continue to have patience with the ex-Pachuca player, mainly if the results are not favoring the team from the south of Italy. The last thing we want is for Chucky to fall out of favor and get relegated to a bench role. Hirving needs to step up his game in order to avoid that fate. This weekend Napoli takes on another mid-table team as they host Brescia.
