ETO Top 10: Most Expensive Mexican Players Winter 2021
Another European transfer window has come and gone, and as expected, the repercussions of not having fans in the stands due to the COVID Pandemic were more evident with few big transactions taking place. Let’s see how these factors have affected Mexican player prices.
10. Diego Lainez- $8.25 Million
Lainez has seen his stock increase over the last four months from $5.50m to $8.25m. His price rise is a direct result of him seeing more minutes with Real Betis
10. Roberto Alvarado- $8.25 Million
Cruz Azul’s early bad form hasn’t harmed Alvarado’s price, however, it has remained stagnant at $8.25m. Whether this will affect the 22-year old’s opportunities to move to Europe will remain to be seen.
9. Edson Alvarez- $8.80 Million
Another Mextranjero whose value has not changed is Alvarez. The 23-year-old Ajax man has recently seen more playing time and involvement which should increase in value come the summer transfer window.
8. Hector Herrera- $8.80 Million
HH’s price has drastically dropped this season from $17.60m to $8.80m. Injuries and a drop in play along with age have factored in the drop, but as he sees more game time and once qualifiers start this may change.
7. Alan Pulido- $9.9 Million
Pulido has seen an increase in value after his controversial move to the MLS’s Sporting Kansas City. Pulido became an important player in Sporting’s great season and playoff run and his stock rose as a result. Another stellar season will surely allow Pulido’s value to surpass $10 million.
6. JJ Macias- $11.00 Million
Many are still waiting for JJ to break through with El Rebano. His lack of productivity hasn’t affected his value negatively but it hasn’t improved it either. The only good thing from this may be at a lower price the 21-year-old may be on more radars in Europe.
5. Rodolfo Pizarro- $11.00 Million
Another player who made a highly criticized move to the MLS last year has seen the move increase his value from 8.80 m to 11.00 m. Pizarro showed flurries of form and will look to be the focal point of Beckham’s Inter Miami in their second season.
4. Carlos Vela- $16.50
Not even a shortened MLS season was able to diminish Cracklito’s value. Vela saw his value increase to $16.50 million in the past year, again even after an injury and not participating in the MLS’s bubble.
3. Jesus Corona- $33.00 Million
Tecatito has solidified himself as one of the Portuguese League’s top stars and his jump in value shows it. No longer a prospect at 28, his play has had him linked to moves to the Premier League and Bundesliga, teams should act fast as his price will only increase with more exposure from upcoming El Tri games.
2. Hirving Lozano- $41.80 Million
El Chucky has been on a recent tear, lighting up Serie A, and his sharp rise in value backs that up. Issues with Coach Genaro Gattuso seem to be a thing of the past and a move to a bigger team is surely in Lozanos’s future.
1. Raul Jimenez- $44.00 Million
El Lobo’s value has not been affected by the horrific injury he suffered earlier this season yet. Early indications are that Jimenez will be back on the field sooner rather than later, which is great news for a struggling Wolverhampton team and El Tri. How his return to action will affect his value is yet to be seen.
