Giovani Dos Santos looks to rebuild his Career with Move to America
Once the future looked promising for Mexican soccer star Giovani dos Santos, but his career has been full of controversy and he failed to live up to his potential. Dos Santos has lived both sides of the spectrum, when its good he’s great, when its bad, it has been horrible. Gio will now look to get back on track with his latest move to Mexican giant, America.
A lifelong America fan, Gio will look to rebuild his career at the club his father Zizinho played for. Sources say Dos Santos signed a two-year deal with the Águilas after the LA Galaxy exercised an offseason buyout of his contract in March of 2019.
Dos Santos joined the LA Galaxy during the 2015 season and went on to make 77 appearances for the club, scoring 26 goals and adding 22 assists and was named to two All-Star Teams while in LA.
Dos Santos is a 3-time World Cup veteran for El Tri but saw limited game time in the 2018 World Cup. He made 104 appearances for El Tri scoring 19 goals.
The move reunites Gio with Miguel “Piojo” Herrera who he played with during Herrera’s stint as Mexico’s head coach from 2013-2015. The two won the 2015 Gold Cup on a team that took heavy criticism.
El Tri fans will hope Gio finds his way under El Piojo, and finally live up to his potential. Dos Santos will come into La Liga MX as a bombazo signing and will be expected to perform immediately for El Piojo’s team. Whether Gio will be able to handle the pressure and constant media coverage, which has been an issue in the past, will remain to be seen.
