Jimenez and Wolves fall to Chelsea at Molineux
It was a bitter return to Wolverhampton for Raul Jimenez following the FIFA break. A week to forget continued for the Wolves star as Chelsea went to their backyard and stomped them five goals to two.
Fikayo Tomori opened up the score for Chelsea in the 31st minute, and there would be no turning back after that. The Blues continued to create havoc for the home team, and Tammy Abraham made sure that the team from London made Wolverhampton pay for their mistakes. Abraham scored two goals in the first half.
In the 55th minute, at 21 years 347 days, Abraham became the youngest Chelsea player ever to score a hat-trick. The English International has scored seven goals in his last three games and has proven that he can excel in the Premier League despite his age.
Jimenez had a relatively quiet game. The striker had several opportunities but was unable to get on the scoreboard. Wolverhampton tried fighting back and scored two goals to cut Chelsea’s lead to 4-2, but the damage was far too severe for the home team to overcome. The Blues would tack on one more in stoppage-time to complete their 5-2 victory. Jimenez company will have to wait until Wednesday to bounce back when they take on Reading in the league cup.
