Jimenez and Wolves shock Manchester City on the road

Raul Jimenez and the Wolverhampton Wanderers scored a surprising victory over the defending English Premier League champions, Manchester City.

The Citizens lost only for the second time this season, while Wolves picked up their second consecutive win. Jimenez, however, has been going through one of his worst slumps. The Mexican striker had an opportunity to score but was denied by Ederson.

Despite dominating the possession of the ball, Man City was unable to get the ball into the back of the net. City outshot Wolverhampton 18 to 7, but the Wolves only needed two of those opportunities to capitalize.

Pep Guardiola’s men came very close to getting on the board on several occasions. Rui Patricio had a monumental game for the Wolves as he denied the team from Manchester time after time.

Wolverhampton broke through in the 80th minute thanks to Adam Traore. Raul made a beautiful play on a breakaway that allowed him to set up Traore who put the ball past Ederson.

City pushed for the tie, but came up empty handed. The Wanderers were able to take advantage that the Citizens’ lines were pushed forward and scored an additional goal in stoppage time.

The victory is a boost of confidence for Wolverhampton as it allowed them to climb several spots in the Premier League table. Despite not scoring, Jimenez played a solid game and it should only be a matter of time before we are him score again.
