Jimenez leads Wolves to victory in Europa League
Raul Jimenez helped Wolverhampton secure a 2-1 victory over Slovan Bratislava on the road in the Europa League.
Jimenez scored for the seventh time in nine games and has now scored back-to-back after having fallen on a slump, which saw him go scoreless for four consecutive games.
The concern with the Mexican fanbase that the two goals came from the penalty spot, which means that Raul has not scored from the field since September 1st against Everton.
The Wanderers had to fight hard for the victory and were able to come back after being down 1-0 following an early goal. Wolverhampton tied the game in the 58th minute, and five minutes later, Raul scored the decisive goal via penalty.
In any case, it’s good to see RJ9 get back on the scorer’s sheet and hopefully build the confidence that made him the Wolves top scorer last season.
The victory allows the English team to stay in contention for the knockout stage of the Europa League, which will resume on November 6th.
Tecatito and Gutierrez play 90 minutes
Jesus Manuel Corona and Erick Gutierrez played 90 minutes for Porto and PSV Eindhoven respectively. Tecatito had a reliable performance for Porto, despite not being able to score in his team’s 1-1 draw versus Scottish side Rangers.
Meanwhile, Gutierrez also had a decent performance and received a yellow card in his team’s 0-0 draw versus LASK Linz from Austria.
Chicharito Hernandez did not see any playing time for Sevilla in their game versus Dudelange from Luxemburg. Javier didn’t even dress up for this match, as did many of the Spanish side’s usual starters. We will likely see Javier in action this weekend in La Liga play for Sevilla.
