LA Galaxy now unbeaten in their last 4 games as they trounce LAFC 3-0 at home.

The latest edition of El Trafico featured a late evening start in part because southern California experienced record high temperatures. The heatwave gave way to 121-degree temperatures. Both Los Angeles teams continue to play without Mexican superstars Carlos Vela and Chicharito Hernandez. Despite that, it appears that both sides have found an identity. From the start, the Galaxy tried to control the game with defense and precise attacking. For their part, the Black and Gold have Diego Rossi, who has picked up the slack in the absence of Carlos Vela.

Bob Bradley’s men came out attacking in the first half. They dominated possession in this half at 66 to 34 percent, as the home team appeared to have its team playback and made attempts to play the counter ball when opportunities came. These situations created opportunities for LAFC, but as they ended the first half, they both went into the locker rooms in a 0-0 tie.

Only six minutes into the second half LA Galaxy drew first blood.  In what appeared to be a critical mistake by LAFC goalie Pablo Sisniega, Carlos Pavon bloops his goal with his right foot. He shot from a difficult angle and long range on the left to the center of the big box. Just two minutes later, LAFC lost its captain on a straight red card. In a matter of five minutes, the game unraveled for the visiting team. They were down 1-0, and they no longer had Mark-Anthony Kay. At this point, Guillermo Barros Schelotto’s team implemented more of a defensive strategy and focused primality on counter strikes.

In the 73rd minute of the match, the 5-time MLS champions struck again. Sebastian Lletget scored with his right foot, and he shot from the center of the box to the bottom right corner during a play assisted by Cristian Pavón. These two players have become the tandem leading the way for Galaxy. Ten minutes later, Lletget scored again. This score is a clear candidate for goal of the week as Lleget rifled a right-footed scissor kick shot from the center of the box to the bottom right corner. The score made things 3-0 in favor of the team from Carson and sealed the victory. The streaking Galacticos are now unbeaten in their last four games and hold a 3-0-1 record during that stretch. For their part, LAFC, despite coming off a 5-1 thrashing over San Jose, seems to be in struggling as they have only one victory in their last four matches.
