LAFC and New England Split the Damage in 2-2 Tie
Los Angeles, CA – LAFC played host to the New England Revolution on a sunny So-Cal day. It was their “first real match” as LAFC coach Bradley stated in the press conference. The statement was evident in the field during the first half. While both teams looked rusty, it was LAFC who started to slowly get some shots on goal. They attempted to attack with their usual style of play, but to no avail. Both teams went into halftime with a score of 0-0.
The 2nd half did not start as the home team planned. In a matter of minutes, the Revolution put the ball behind the net and took the 1-0 lead. Los Angeles was just about settling in when within a couple of minutes, the Revolution scored again. In the blink of an eye, they were down 2-0. Oddly enough, this appeared to be the spark the Black and Gold needed. Their mid-fielders began to take control of the game and started to facilitate the attack, wanting to mount a comeback.
At this point LAFC displayed flashes of its speed and relentless attack on offense. They scored to make the score 1-2 and soon after they were awarded a penalty kick. However, the soccer gods had other plans as the New England goalie halted the penalty kick. They didn’t let that play stop the home team from attacking. Right before regulation time was over, LAFC scored and tied the game at 2-2. Diego Rossi was the one that scored and saved LAFC from losing. A couple of minutes later, the referee blew his whistle and that was the end of the game.
