LAFC beats Vancouver with a barrage of goals, 6-0.
Los Angeles, CA – In a gorgeous evening game under the lights. Vancouver White Caps came in with a 2 game winning streak and were looking to put a dent into LAFC’s season as the Angelino team continue with inconsistent play during this very unique season. Vancouver is a team that enjoys sitting back and playing solid defense. They play the counter-attack and pick and choose their opportunities.
LAFC had other ideas for this match. Just two minutes into the game the Black and Gold drew first blood. Coming off a corner kick from Brian Rodriguez, Dejan Jakovic with a header scored, and just like that the home team was up 1-0. Bob Bradley’s team is known for its high-octane offense. In the outset of this game, Vancouver appeared lost when it came to defending. Their rival was dominating early in the game. In the fifth minute, LAFC scored again. Bradley Wright-Phillips scored off of his right foot. He shot from the center of the box to the bottom left corner of the net. Five minutes into the game the home team was up 2-0 and Vancouver isn’t a team to rack up goals.
In the 9th minute, Bradley Wright-Phillips scored again putting his team up 3-0. Before the White Caps even broke a sweat they were down 3-0. Bob’s team came out firing on all cylinders because minutes later they scored yet again. With LAFC up 4-0, it appeared like Vancouver had to climb Mount Everest to make a comeback. After an own goal in the 14thminute LAFC had an insurmountable lead. Just when it appeared that the White Caps were settling into the game, Diego Rossi joined the scoring bonanza. Heading into half-time Bradley’s team, was up by a score of 5-0.
In the second half, Vancouver finally settled in on defense. The issue here was that it was too late to overcome their 5-0 deficit. They were not able to produce much on offense and LAFC was winning the possession battle 65-35. They played right into the hands of Los Angeles. The Black and Gold kept attacking and in the 68th minute it paid off, yet again. The Whitecaps gave up an own goal. At this point, it was 6-0 and Bob emptied his bench. That is how this game ended and LAFC earned 3 much-needed points.
