LAFC Dominates America, Moves on to the CONCACAF Champions League Final

In an insane turn of events, the MLS side comes out victorious tonight. LAFC dominates the Liga MX powerhouse Club America in a three-one victory. With this win, we now have an MLS vs Liga MX Final for the CONCACAF Champions League. Let’s break down tonight’s matchup

Early Advantage

Club America mangled to get on the board early on in the match as they scored at the 11th minute. A goal that came from a corner where Sebastian Cáceres with a beautiful header that landed at the top right corner of the box. The assist came from Richard Sanchez with a cross. This put Las Aguilas up one-nil and was the only goal of the first half. The rest of the first half was a foul fest and yellow cards were being shown. A total of three for America and there was one for LAFC.

In the 45th minute, there was an altercation that definitely needed a VAR review between Memo Ochoa and Eduard Atuesta. Because of this fight on the pitch, Atuesta was given a red card and LAFC was left with ten men. After the ref got back control of the match the whistle was blown after seven minutes of added time.

Vela does not hold back

It only took two minutes in the second half for LAFC to come back and regain control of their match. Who else but Carlos Vela to show up and show out. The first goal at the 46th minute Vela takes advantage of a real bad defensive error and takes a left-footed shot to the bottom left corner of the box, equalizing the game. The second goal came right after as Eddie Segura sends a beautiful ball up on the pitch that lands on Carlos Vela’s feet. He then took the ball into the box and seals the goal making the score two-one.

As tension rises in the match Club America also loses a man on the pitch. Luis Reyes was shown the red card. From there Piojo Hererra made some tactical sub ins but it was not enough to stop the team from LA. In the 95th minute, LAFC took a run from the midfield and took it into the box. The goal was from Latif Blessing with a right-footed shot to the bottom right corner. With this LAFC is set to face Tigres on Tuesday, December 22nd for the CONCACAF Champions League final.
