LAFC Fall to Timbers at Home
The match between LAFC and Portland marked their 11th league meeting since 2018. This time the Angelenos were without Mexican striker Carlos Vela, who is still recovering from a quad injury.
The player Mexican fans may have recognized on the field instead was Jose Carlos Van Rankin. The Timber’s defender along with his team looked to secure another road win.
It was the Timber’s Colombian combination that struck first; a pass from Darion Aspilla and the definition by Yimmi Charra at minute 46’ had the visiting team leading the scoreboard.
Not long into the second half, Daniel Musovski ties the scoreboard at minute 55’ adding heat to the match.
The tie for the Angelinos wouldn’t last long, however. Dairon Asprilla himself would put the ball in the back of the net in the 59th minute.
Sparks flew as the referee marked a penalty kick in favor of the home team. The controversial call was sent to VAR review, where it would be reversed.
With that, the Timbers took the road victory against LAFC, making this the 3rd straight loss for the Angelinos. LAFC will take on another challenge this weekend as they face their local rivals, LA Galaxy, in “El Trafico”. With another road victory under their belt, the Timbers will prepare to receive Rodolfo Pizarro and his Inter Miami.
