Leon defeats Puebla 2-0 and advances to the semifinals of 2020 Guardianes
Goals from Maximiliano Perg (own goal) and Ángel Mena helped León become the first team to advance in the Guardianes 2020 semifinals defeating Puebla (2-0) at Nou Camp. La Fiera was superior in the entire match and imposed conditions from the opening whistle. The first score fell just five minutes later with a goal against the defender of the Los Camoteros, Perg.
León extended their lead at the 30th minute through the Ecuadorian Ángel Mena, who took advantage of a rebound inside the area to take a shot that put Leon up 2-0.
During the second half, La Fiera had enough chances to increase the scoreboard’s advantage, but the play of goalie Vikonis prevented a blowout in favor of León.
The meeting’s controversial moment came as the 90 minutes were winding down, after a shirt tug inside the 18-yard box on Santiago Ormeño; however, referee César Ramos and the VAR did not intervene to sanction a penalty. It was a tough game for Los Camoteros, but Leon was simply better from finish to start.
