Leon takes home 3 points after beating Pachuca in Hidalgo
Leon begin their season with a 3-1 win over Pachuca at Estadio Hidalgo. Last season, Los Tuzos won all eight of their home matches and want their home presence to be dominant again this season. Leon whom last season managed 12 consecutive wins, unfortunately couldn’t get them the championship after being defeated by Tigres
The game started with Leon attacking and Pachuca not finding their rhythm. The earliest opportunity for goal came at 5th minute from Leon’s Ismael Sosa, followed by an opportunity from Pachuca’s Franco Jara at minute 7. Pachuca found it very difficult to get the ball out the danger zone and Leon scored their first goal at minute 13 from Ismael Sosa.
Pachuca was put at a disadvantage in minute 38 when the referee signals a penalty on behalf of Leon. The penalty was executed by the young talent Juan Jose Macias to give Leon a 2-0 lead.
Pachuca played a rough first half because of lack of clarity and definition. Early in the second half, Erick Aguirre’s shot on goal was saved by Rodolfo Cota. A little later the VAR declines a penalty for Pachuca and shortly after, in the 70th minute, La Fiera’s Carlos Guerrero is shown a red card for a violent conduct. Pachuca would take advantage of their rival playing with only 10 men and gets their first goal at minute 80 via a penalty kick scored by Jaro.
Ignacio Ambriz’ men concluded their visit to Estadio Hidalgo with another goal at minute 88 this time from Leonardo Ramos. Pachuca loses an opportunity to earn three valuable points at home, but will have a chance to improve their performance next week against Veracruz at Estadio Luis Pirata Fuente. For their part, Los Panzas Verdes must continue to show why they’re favorites to win the championship next week when they host Club America.
