LIGA MX APERTURA 21 WEEK 2 GAME LINES AND PICKS

Week 1 of Liga MX is in the books, and it was an erratic week as we are used to in Liga MX. Mazatlán knocked off the defending champions, Chivas underwhelmed, Pachuca pummeled Leon, and currently top of the league. So with all that, I’m going to take a crack at predicting Week 2. Game Lines are accurate as of 7/28/2021 @ noon.

THE GAME LINES

THE PICKS

MAZATLAN VS PACHUCA

Mazatlán shocked everyone by beating reigning champs Cruz Azul 2-0 in their opening match, while Los Tuzos destroyed Leon in their opener. While tempting, I’ve been burned by Mazatlán before, my pick is Pachuca @+125.

PUEBLA VS CHIVAS

Puebla was able to hold Los Rayados to a draw, even after allowing Monterrey to take 15 shots and 9 corners. Chivas is missing its three offensive starters from last season and it shows. They took 14 shots and had eight corners, but only scored via late PK. Both teams may struggle to score, I’m taking a draw @+220.

XOLOS VS LEON

Xolos out possessed and outshot Tigres, but was unable to capitalize their opportunities. Leon for their part, cracked late and allowed Pachuca to run wild. I think Leon will come roaring back, give me La Fiera @-140.

AMERICA VS NECAXA

America and Necaxa both struggled to get quality shots off during their last games respectively. America missed Henry Martins accuracy in front of goal, in their draw away at Queretaro. Necaxa out possessed and out shot Santos, but only really troubled Acevedo once in the match. I’m taking Las Aguilas at home @-185.

MONTERREY VS UNAM

Rayados were unable to take advantage of their 15 shots against Puebla only scoring once on Los Camoteros, while Pumas looked unimpressive in their home debut. I’m going with La Pandilla @-170.

ATLAS VS JUAREZ FC

Atlas’ scoring troubles carried over from last season and they were unable to score against Pumas, El Tuca got off to a rough start ahead of Juarez and lost at home to Toluca. With El Tuca’s defensive schemes and no goal scorer for Atlas, I’m taking the draw @+245.

TOLUCA VS TIGRES

Toluca looked good in their opener at Juarez, while Tigres squeaked out a whn against Xolos. I think Los Diablos will give EL Piojo his first loss as Tigres Manager. Give me Toluca @+195.

SANTOS VS CRUZ AZUL

Santos cruised to a 3-0 victory away to Necaxa, while Cruz Azul was stunned by Mazatlán in the opening round of the tournament. In this Final rematch, I feel like Santos will take advantage of a depleted Cruz Azul (Romo is with the Olympic Squad, while Pineda is in the Gold Cup) and get a little revenge. Give me Santos @+145.

UPSET OF THE WEEK

For my upset pick, i’m waiting until the last game of the jornada. San Luis was able to beat an ineffective Chivas squad in their last game, while El Pity seemed to be playing for the tie at home against America. With that being said, I like Gallos squad a little more than I trust San Luis, give me Los Gallos in an upset @+215.

MY PARLAY

While the full nine game parlay would give me a massive payout, I feel breaking it down to 3 or four games per parlay will be more realistic. I’m going with a three team parlay. I’m taking Pachuca@+125, Toluca@+195, and my upset pick Gallos @+215 for a Money Line of +1990. With my traditional $100 wager, payout will be $2090.81.
