Liga MX Rankings: Week 3
Many ETO quinelas were affected by the third round results of the Apertura 2019 and although it ruined our chances to win, we still enjoyed seeing competitive games. Let us know how you feel about our picks for the week.
5. FC Juarez
We witnessed history yet again. After seeing San Luis earn their first Liga MX victory in the second round, Juarez decided it was their turn. Los Bravos took advantage of Toluca’s poor form and gave an outstanding performance at home with a 2-0 victory. Will Juarez be able to keep their momentum when they visit Cruz Azul this Saturday?
4. Queretaro
Speaking of Cruz Azul, they’ve also been struggling since the start of the season and suffered a 0-3 loss against Queretaro. With a brace from Luis Romo and a goal from Jair Pereira, Queretaro did more than just defend ‘La Corregidora’, they made a statement and reached second place in the Liga MX standings.
3. Necaxa
Los Rayos has been the most talked-about team in the third round after smashing Veracruz with seven goals in Aguascalientes. Not many people expected this result to happen since Necaxa had seemed weak in the last two games, but they showed us what they are capable of when it’s their night.
2. America
It was an unforgettable moment for fans to see Giovani Dos Santos make his debut at Estadio Azteca and score his first goal. But it wasn’t just Gio that made America go on our rankings list, it was the team itself. Most people thought America would find it challenging on the field without Agustin Marchesin after his departure to Porto but they proved them wrong.
1. Santos
Just as we predicted, Santos Laguna stayed on our list and continue to stay as the top team in Liga MX. Leading the standings yet again, Santos took down Atlas in Jalisco with some difficulties. Los Rojinegros definitely put up a fight but were outmatched by the strong force of Santos. Who will be able to stop Los Laguneros?
