Liga MX Round 3 Preview

The Liga MX returns with its third round of the 2019 Apertura! Here are our thoughts and predictions that might be useful if you’re playing our #ETOQUINIELA.

Puebla vs Guadalajara

Los Camoteros’ Liga MX debut didn’t start so well after opening with a loss at home. The good thing for them as they try to rebound is that they’re playing their second game at home. The bad thing is that they’ll be up against a motivated Guadalajara. Puebla may have a tough game in their hands, but they can undoubtedly stop Chivas from taking their next three points.

(Prediction: Puebla 2 – Chivas 1)

Atlas vs Santos

Most of us are very excited to see these two face off. Both are undefeated and haven’t conceded goals. But Santos has the most offensive firepower with six goals; meanwhile, Atlas has only scored two this season. But it’s easy to say that Los Laguneros are the favorites for this matchup.

(Prediction: Atlas 1 – Santos 3)

Queretaro vs Cruz Azul

Gallos Blancos have one win and one draw this season but suffered a loss earlier this week in Copa MX. While La Maquina does have a strong squad, they’ve been struggling to connect and walk out with a victory. If Cruz Azul can’t become the team they need to be, they’ll keep going through the same fate.

(Prediction: Queretaro 1 – Cruz Azul 1)

Pachuca vs Morelia

Monarcas have had a difficult start with two consecutive losses and could turn into a third. But, Pachuca has also been struggling under Martin Palermo. Los Tuzos recent struggles mean Morelia might have a chance to take a valuable victory. With both desperate for a win, it’s anybody’s game to win.

(Pachuca 2 – Monarcas 0)

America vs Xolos

After selling Agustin Marchesin to Porto, Xolos will look to take advantage of America’s void this weekend. Las Aguilas will be at a disadvantage since Marchesin has been a critical element for many victories and championship titles. Tijuana will be testing out America’s replacement, Oscar Jimenez with shots on goal, hoping to take down their rival in the Estadio Azteca.

(Prediction: America 2 – Xolos 2)

Necaxa vs Veracruz

Los Rayos could have trouble when they host Veracruz this week. Los Tiburones gave an impressive performance in their first game, and they hope it doesn’t stop there. Despite their trouble with their position in relegation, this season could be substantial for Veracruz, but Necaxa will stand in their way to prevent that from happening.

(Prediction: Necaxa 0 – Veracruz 2)

Monterrey vs Leon

Many of us are surprised in the position Monterrey is currently sitting. Los Rayados have lost their last two games, even with their starting squad. It will be interesting to see how much damage Leon is capable of doing when they visit BBVA Bancomer Stadium. At the same time, we’re curious to see if Monterrey will finally step up and start moving up in the standings.

(Prediction: Monterrey 2 – Leon 3)

Pumas vs Tigres

Another likely favorite for this week is Los Universitarios. While some might disagree and choose Tigres as the likely winner for this game, they left many doubts in Guadalajara. Pumas, on the other hand, have been on an energetic level this season will be able to defend their home against a well-known Tuca Ferreti and his team.

(Prediction: Pumas 2 – Tigres 1)

Juarez vs Toluca

The last game to end round three will be in the hands of Juarez and Toluca. Juarez, at the bottom of the standings, has trouble figuring out how to win in Liga MX and it could take a while from our point of view. Toluca is in the same position, except Ricardo Lavolpe sees his team as the problem. He mentioned Toluca isn’t getting the results they want because the players are not putting enough effort into their games.

(Prediction: Juarez 1 – Toluca 1)
