Lozano in starting XI & Alvarez scores in Champions League matches

Mextranjeros Edson Alvarez and Hirving Lozano both started for their respective teams and had solid performances. Alvarez scored in the 49th minute of Ajax’s 3-0 victory versus French side Lille; meanwhile, El Chucky played 67 minutes in Napoli’s 2-0 win over Liverpool.

Alvarez and Ajax got off to a formidable start to their Champions League group stage. The ex-Club America star has taken advantage of the opportunity that skipper Erik ten Hag has provided him. The defender found himself at the right place at the right time to on a nice shot inside the box to give the team from Amsterdam a 2-0 lead.

Ajax went on to win 3-0, and their road to the knockout round will not get any easier as they travel to Valencia and host Chelsea next month.

For his part, Hirving Lozano played a solid game for the team from Naples. He moved around the field well but didn’t get many opportunities in front of the goal. Carlo Ancelotti made some modifications and decided to bring Fernando Llorente into the game in place of Lozano. With Lozano out of the game and the match tied at 0-0, Ancelotti’s adjustments paid dividends as his team went on to score two goals to beat the defending Champions League champion.

Up next for Napoli, they’ll face Racing Genk and Red Bull Salzburg respectively. It’s safe to say that we’ll likely continue to see Chucky in Napoli uniform during the Champions League.
