Mexico moves on to U-17 World Cup semifinals with a victory over South Korea

Mexico defeated South Korea 1-0 in a hard-fought game that saw El Tri claw its way to victory inaction of the U-17 World Cup,

Ali Avila came on as a substitute in the 64th minute for a tired Bruce El Mesmari. Avila scored his second goal of the tournament in the 77th minute via header that surprised the South Korean defense.

Mexico will now meet the Netherlands on Thursday, November 14 in Gama, Brazil. The youngsters from the Netherlands defeated Paraguay easily earlier in the day by a score of 4-1. Mexico’s last trip to the U-17 World Cup semi-finals was in 2015, losing to Nigeria 3-0.
