MEXICO VS TRINIDAD & TOBAGO PICKS AND PARLAY
Mexico will participate in the Gold Cup starting July 10, 2021 against Trinidad & Tobago at AT&T Stadium. Now, as we discussed earlier, the line for an Azteca victory is a -1667, which means if you wager $100 your payout would only be $106. Just because El Tri are heavy favorites doesn’t mean there aren’t other ways you can get a good payout on the game.
Prop Bets
Like the odds makers, I expect El Tri to get off to an emphatic start, and make a statement in their first game of the tournament. For that reason, I will take an exact score for the game of 6-0 in favor of El Tata’s men @+1600.
With that in mind I will also take the total goal to be above 5.5 @+700.
Player Goals
Now here is where it gets interesting, I’m going to take three Mexican players to score in this game Herrera, Chucky, and Funes Mori.
El Chucky is a bit of a no-brainer, as he, along with Corona and Funes Mori should be the focal point of Mexico’s attack this tournament. THe odds makers seem to think this as well, so I’m taking Chucky to score @-165.
Having said that, I’m also taking Hector Herrera to score. I know, he’s only scored 6 official goals in 76 appearances for El Tri, but two of those came in their last game. I’m counting on him to stay hot in front of goal, and @+165 it’s a good bet to make.
Funes Mori will be one of the players to watch this tournament as he will look to build on his debut goal, and continue to hush critics of his call up. An opponent like T&T will be a great opportunity for him to get on the score sheet multiple times. I’m taking Funes Mori to score multiple times @+275.
My Parlay
So to summarize my picks, I’m taking Mexico to win 6-0 @+1600, Total Goals Over 5.5 @+700, Lozano to score @-165, Herrera to score @+165, and Funes Mori to score at least two goals @+275 for a total money line of +5000. A wager of $100 will get a payout of $5100.00. Not a bad way to start the Gold Cup.
