Mexico’s 30 national players began preparing for the crucial World Cup Qualifiers triple-header, and Jamaica will be their first rival to face on Jan. 27 in Kingston.
A look at El TRI ahead of its away match against Jamaica
Players began arriving in Mexico’s High-Performance Centre (CAR), following their club’s weekend matches, where most of them had an outstanding performance.
The Mexican National Soccer Team ranked the best five players of the weekend ahead of the match against the Reggae Boyz: Out of Mexico’s Liga MX, César Montes, Rogelio Funes Mori, Uriel Antuna, and Alexis Vega all scored one goal and played the entire match with their respective teams, except for ‘El Brujo’ Antuna. Meanwhile, in Spain’s La Liga, Jesus ‘Tecatito’ Corona had his first start with Sevilla, in which he had an assist in 72 minutes of action.

The Mexican Wolf is ailing
On the other hand, one player not expected to be on the roster against the Reggae Boyz is Raul Jimenez. This weekend, the latter didn’t lineup with his English Premier League squad, Wolverhampton, due to a calf injury.
The Mexican team, who sits 3rd in CONCACAF’s standings, is scheduled to travel to Jamaica in a charter flight on Tuesday.
The match will be played behind closed doors as decided by the Jamaican government.
Here’s a look at Gerardo Martino’s first roster of the year, in case you missed it.
