Mextranjeros in Europe recap: HH, Tecatito and Alvarez all see action

With several European Leagues in full effect, it’s difficult to point out which matches are worth watching and will make the most impact, also, which players will stand out. Luckily with several Mexican players scattered across Europe, there are good options. We have today’s results from several games for each Mextranjero that played today.

Atletico Madrid vs Real Betis

As we would have loved to see all three Mextranjeros play in today’s match, we only had the pleasure to see one of them on the pitch. That player was Hector Herrera, who only played in the first half of the match and was subbed off in compensation time. Diego Lainez was once again benched and did not get to see any playtime. Andres Guardado was out due to an injury. Atletico got the lead in right before the half and ended up beating Real Betis two-nil with goals from Marcos Lorente and Luis Suarez.

Edson Alvarez plays on Ajax’s record day

If you got a chance to watch this matchup, you saw one hell of a show. It was raining goals in a ridiculous thirteen-nil win for Ajax over VVV-Venlo. It was evident who had the most fun on the pitch and who went out to show the world what they are made of. Edson Alvarez only played 20 minutes in this match, and Ajax was already up 9-0. He did not score any of the thirteen goals nor had any assists for the remaining goals scored in the 20 minutes he was in this record-breaking day for the team from Amsterdam as they went on to secure the biggest win in Eredivise history.

Tecatito and FC Porto

Tecatito had the most impact out of all the Mextranjeros this weekend as he was subbed out in stoppage time during FC Porto’s one-nil victory over Gil Vicente. Even with one less man on the pitch, Porto managed to show dominance and kept creating chances as Tecatito had several opportunities to get on the board with a total of 18 shots and seven of those on target. With 60 percent overall possession of the ball, this game could have clearly been a high scoring one for Porto. For certain, keeping an eye on Corona will be evident, especially with Porto having upcoming Champions League matchups.

Keeping up with the Mextranjeros in Europe is always interesting. We keep seeing significant developments from these players, which will show when they are called up for El Tri during the important upcoming tournaments and the World Cup.
