Mextranjeros in The Champions League
The greatest club tournament in the world returns and we had some Mextranjeros representing on the pitch. Hector Herrera Atletico Madrid and Jesus Corona with FC Porto. Both teams suffered a loss in today’s matchups, but we got to see these players in action along with some interesting performances.
Tecatito and FC Porto
Jesus Corona had a solid performance with FC Porto as they faced Manchester City and suffered a three-one loss. With a very odd (5,4,1) formation, they opened the board at the 14th minute of the match and only allowed one goal in the first half. Through some effort and at least one chance created, Jesus went on to be subbed off after 77 minutes replaced by Nanu. Coming back from playing with El Tri and showing some major skill, FC Porto’s player of the year is a must-watch in the Champions League. FC Porto’s next matchup will be against Olympiakos who had a one-nil victory against Marseille.
HH and Atletico Madrid
Hector Herrera went on to play the entire match as Atletico Madrid traveled to the Allianz Arena home of Bayern München. Things did not go well for the Spanish club as they were destroyed four-nil. Herrera in today’s game played well and created some chances and even got booked in the first half for a hard sliding tackle on Kimmich just before half time. It’s clear the team went on and did what they could to compete against the current champion but fell short. Herrera and Atletico will have a lot to think about as their next matchup in the Champions League won’t be easy. They will face FC Red Bull Salzburg who is currently first in the 1st Division Austrian Bundesliga on Tuesday, October 27th.
