Mextranjeros Make their presence once again in the Champions League

As this year is coming to a close and the last sets of Champions league games are being played. 2021 is about to roll in and the pressure will hit hard on the teams that currently have Mextranjeros in their squad. Tonight we had all representing on the pitch at one point. Let’s break down tonight’s matches.

Herrera back from Injury

After facing an injury earlier this year during international duty with El Tri, Hector had missed several fixtures with Atletico Madrid. Finally, that came to an end tonight against Bayern Munich. He was subbed in at the 80th minute of the match as Simeone saw him fit to go in for Ángel Correa. Even for the short amount of time, seeing Hector back on the pitch is a big plus. With the big injuries that have been happening to Mexican players recently, it was good to see a familiar face. This match ended in a draw, Atletico managed to hold down Bayern at home. Atletico Madrid has one more match to go against FC Red Bull Salzburg.

Tecatito and Porto hold down Man City

With this fixture being an important one as Manchester City was holding the upper hand the entire match. Porto managed to hold them down to a draw tonight both sharing a point. Jesus Corona was on the pitch for 63 minutes before being subbed off. They brought in Luis Diaz who had previously scored on the English powerhouse and wanted to do it again. Corona has continued to show an impact in creating plays and dynamics throughout the pitch. Here are some highlights of Coronas magic before being exiting the match. Porto will face Olympiakos once again next week on the 9th of December as the year ends.

Edson Alvarez and Ajax fall to Liverpool

It was evident it would be a difficult matchup for Ajax tonight. No doubt about it especially being at Anfield. Even without having any fans in the stands, the pressure is always on when you face the former Champion. With that difficult task at hand, they managed to only go down by one goal from Curtis Jones which didn’t happen until the second half. Edson Alvarez was in the match for 69 minutes before being subbed off. With this, they will have one more match before the end of the year next week against Atalanta on Wednesday, December 9th.
