Monterrey, Cafetaleros tie 1-1 before Rain Storm cancels game
Los Rayados de Monterrey went down to southern Mexico to visit Los Cafetaleros de Chiapa for Round 2 of Copa MX. Cafetaleros were making their Copa MX debut while this was Rayados second game in the cup.
The home team came out striking first at the 11th minute when they were awarded a penalty kick which Ecuadorian midfielder, Jairo Velez, was able to score. With the upperhand, the home team looked to increase their lead and kept up the attack. Even after Monterrey tied at the 18th minute, thanks to Leonel Vangioni, the home team sought the win, but they would both enter the half tied at one.
During the halftime break however, the local rainstorm would intensify, forcing Copa MX match officials to postpone the game. Officials later announced that the match would be postponed until October 11th, with the time of kickoff yet to be determined.
