Oribe Peralta scores in Chivas victory against Correcaminos

Copa MX action is back for Chivas and Correcaminos. After a rough weekend for “El Rebaño Sagrado” in El Clásico Nacional, their fight for points in Copa was highly expected. Being the local team, Correcaminos would play their part to win the game.

The first-half favored Las Chivas as they maintained a dynamic ball possession. Correcaminos struggled to get past the visiting team, playing a more defensive game with little ball possession and errors. Shot after shot, Las Chivas got closer to opening to the scoreboard. Unfortunately, no goals came for either team. Leaving the field for the halftime break, both teams knew that a possibly difficult second half was waiting.

The goals came during the second half. El Rebaño Sagrado opened the scoreboard with an assist by Mayorga and a goal from Oribe Peralta at minute 56. That’s correct, after almost a year without scoring, “El Cepillo” Peralta got his first goal with “Los Rojiblancos”. Shortly after, Chivas took advantage of the bad defensive position of the local team and obtained the second goal of the night. Their academy player, Cesar Huerta, assisted Mayorga for the goal at minute 63. With a well-deserved win for “El Rebaño Sagrado”, the home team faces Santos laguna in the next round of Copa MX.
