Pachuca draws 1-1 at Estadio Azteca to America

Club America comes short of a victory as Pachuca’s 89th-minute goal helps them to a 1-1 draw.

The game began with an early red card to Pachuca, but that did not seem to slow them down as Los Tuzos had a couple of opportunities. America was not able to capitalize on this extra man advantage ending in 0-0 first half.

Las Aguilas came out with a different mentality for the second half. In his debut, Jose Angel Lopez entered the game and helped America open the score with the first goal of his career.

The team from Mexico City kept the momentum going and got awarded a penalty kick. However, Pachuca’s goalkeeper Rodrigo Rey made a remarkable stop to deny America of a 2-0 lead.

The game evened out after Emanuel Aguilera got his second yellow card and had both teams playing with 10-man.

Just as America felt like they had secured the victory, Romario Ibarra helps Pachuca even out the score 1-1.

Despite the late goal against them, Club America remains the only undefeated team left in Liga MX. Up next, Migue El Piojo Herrera and his men will travel to Guadalajara to take on Atlas on Friday. Meanwhile, Pachuca will host San Luis on Saturday as they look to continue their climb up the Liga MX table.
