Pachuca ends the tournament with a win
Pumas and Pachuca stepped into the field already without a chance of going to the liguilla but with an important game nonetheless. With both teams in the lower part of the relegation table, this was an important opportunity to accumulate three points
The match started very dull with hardly any interesting action from any of the squads. The game had almost no clear goal opportunities and it was a perfect reflection of the terrible season both teams have had. Most of the game was played in the midfield with many passes but not much penetration apart from some crosses that led nowhere near the goal. It wasn’t until the 34th minute that Los Tuzos opened up the score by the foot of Roberto De la Rosa who shot inside the penalty box after Pablo Jáquez made a terrible mistake. The first half ended with the home team up one goal and ready to score more on the second half
The second half began with Pachuca playing more intensely than in the first half. Right away, 11 minutes into the half, Roberto De la Rosa scored his second goal after an amazing cross from Rubens Sambueza. After this goal the home team threw themselves back just letting UNAM attack while they focused on the counterattacks. Pumas had a few crosses that went nowhere, unfortunately for UNAM they weren’t able to say goodbye to this season in a decent way and disappointed their fans once more.
The match ended in a victory for Los Tuzos but unfortunately for them, it was not enough to go through to the Liguilla. Both teams have to analyze their mistakes and get ready for next season which is important they do better.
