Pelaez moves on From Tena: Hires Vucetich as New Pastor For Chivas
Liga MX’s worst kept secret became official earlier today as Chivas made Vucetich’s arrival at El Rebano official. The announcement comes on the heels of Chivas’ first win in the tournament, beating FC Juarez 2-0.
El Rey Midas will look to right the ship as Chivas has started the league with one win, one draw and two losses, and until yesterday’s game, no goals.
Whi the choice seems to bring back the topic of the coaching carousel that exists in Mexico, this pairing may work. As we stated in a previous article, Vucetich has not won a Liga MX championship in over ten years and a Copa MX since 2016. Chivas is a team struggling to get back to the top of the league since Almeyda left the team, and has had an array of coaches fail. Since Pelaez took the director role at El Rebano, excitement and anticipation were restored to the \ Chivahermanos, especially as he made splashy signings bringing in Antuna, Chicote, and returning JJ Macias to the Guadalajara. The team, however, has not clicked, with many of the signings failing to make a difference and rarely getting onto the field under Tena’s tactical setup.
Now we get a situation where we have a coach looking to prove he still has his golden touch and a team that is thirsting to return to past glories, so what does Vucetich have to do to get Chivas to the top of the table? Yes, Vucetich excels at getting the most out of the players he is given, and Chivas, on paper, has a very talented roster. Given time and circumstances willing, Vecetich should be able to solidify El Rebanos backline, and stabilize the midfield, however, unless he can fix the glaring lack of creativity in the final third, his project might be cut short.
Do you think El Rey Midas will restore Chivas to the top of the table? Let us know.
