PSV win but concerns rise as Chucky Lozano gets carried off the field
PSV were able to overcome a 1-0 deficit and win at home 2-1. Mextranjeros Erick Gutierrez and Hirving “Chucky” Lozano were in the starting XI for PSV. Gutierrez played the full game, was Chucky was carried off the field in the 47th minute of the game.
PSV went down in the 33rd minute when ADO’s Tomas Necid shrugged off Gutierrez and unleashed a right-footed rocket to the top right of the goal. The Boeren were able to equalize the game right before the half as a right-footed Bruma shot deflected off an ADO defender and past Robert Zwinkels who had already dived to the other side.
El Chucky suffered an injury early in the second half when in the 47th minute he attempted a shot from inside the box but seemed to make contact with multiple defender’s feet and the ground. The injury comes at an inopportune time for Lozano as this might prevent a rumored move to Napoli. As you recall, El Chucky missed the Copa Oro due to an injury as well.
The Lampen took the lead shortly after the Mexican’s substitution in the 52nd minute via Donyell Malen. Malen took a shot pass just outside the small box, dribbled and was able to squeeze it through Zwinkels’ legs for the goal.
PSV put the game away in the stoppage time in an extremely lucky way. Cody Gakpo broke away and passed the ball to a wide-open Malen, this time though, Zwinkel was able to stop the shot. Unfortunately for ADO, the chance found its way back to Gakpo. At first, he seemed to make bad contact with the ball, but the spin the ball took, nonetheless, managed to squeak in the goal.
PSV dominated the game with 71 percent possession and 24 shots on goal, however, the loss of Lozano and the unknown graveness of his injury hindered the game. Hopefully, for PSV and El Chucky, the damage will not be grave and well be able to see Lozano back soon.
