Puebla outshines Necaxa, wins 3-0 in the last game of the regular season
Puebla outshined an unrecognizable Necaxa defeating them 3-0 in Estadio Cuauhtémoc on their last game of the regular season.
La Franja got off to an early lead at the 12th minute with a goal by Christian Tabó. Los Hidrorayos defense couldn’t keep up with Tabó or Christian Marrubo, who made the assist.
The referee then paused the game for a VAR review of Tabó’s celebration, decided there was no foul by the Uruguayan and continued play.
Necaxa’s goalie Hugo Gonzalez blocked several goal attempts made by Juan Reynoso’s men, who were creating good plays and taking advantage of the weak defense by the team from Aguascalientes.
At the 35th-minute Tabó would score his second goal of the night to give La Franja a 2-0 lead.
The third goal of the night would come from Lucas Cavallini minutes before the second half.
Puebla, which was left with ten men at the 69th minute after Jesus Zavala earned a red card for a foul, ended Necaxa’s six consecutive wins against them.
Necaxa was unable to bounce back after playing a bad defensive game in the first 45 minutes.
This game marks the end of the regular season for both teams. Los Rayos head to the Liguilla with 31 points and in second place in the standings, though León, Tigres, or Queretaro could still take their spot. On the other hand, Puebla says goodbye to the 2019 Apertura.
