The three-goal trend continues.
It was Pumas’ turn to come onto the pitch and roll out with everything they had in their arsenal in the first half. It took just four minutes for Juan Ignacio Dinenno to open up the board. Took a right-footed shot to the center of the goal following a corner kick. At the 37th minute of the match came the second goal from Pumas. At the 45th minute, a penalty was being reviewed as Jonathan ‘Cabecita’ Rodriguez drew a foul in the penalty area but eventually, VAR denied it and the whistle blew for the haltime score of three-nil.
The Cruzazuleada lives on
The second half started and now Cruz Azul had some defensive work to do. They had all the means to avoid a turnaround that at the beginning of the match seemed impossible. That was not the case as Pumas controlled more possession of the ball and continued to create chances. In the end, it finally happened as the opportunities came Pumas said we want this victory more. At the 89th minute of the match, a beautiful cross assist from Alan Mozo landed to Juan Vigón as he took a right-footed shot that went in and made things four-zero.
With six minutes of added time, Cruz Azul desperately wanted to score but fell short. They did all they could to get on the board but it did not happen. With the final whistle being blown game ended 4-0 and with a 4-4 aggregate score, Pumas being the higher seed advanced to the Liga MX Finals as they will face Leon with the date still to be determined.
