Querétaro Continue their Unbeaten Streak Against Pachuca With a 2-1 Victory

From the Corregidora Stadium, unbeaten Querétaro played host to winless Pachuca. The encounter looked to break both streaks until Los Gallos found their form and found the back of the net twice.

After an initial yellow card was awarded to Edwin Cardona against Alonso Escoboza, it quickly converted to a red card in the 17th minute thanks to a VAR assist.

Down a player, Pachuca’s Jonathan Copete scored an acrobatic scissor kick in the 35th minute. The Gallo defense let down their guard and allowed Los Tuzos to take the lead.

Víctor Manuel Vucetich and his Gallos Blancos regrouped in the half after being down a score. Pachuca did not make it easy for Querétaro to find the equalizer.

After various attempts against Pachuca’s defensive wall, Los Gallos Blancos finally connected, thanks to a precise center from Luis Romo to Alexis Pérez for the header. Querétaro found their second wind and started to pressure Los Tuzos.

Pachuca tried to make a last-ditch effort to take the lead with no success. In stoppage time, Lost Gallos took the lead and sealed the victory in the 94th minute thanks to a rebound goal from Jair Pereira inside the penalty box.

Querétaro will attempt to continue their streak against Los Bravos de Juárez on Sunday, August 18th in Estadio Olímpico Benito Juárez.
