Querétaro keeps the three points at home

Querétaro and Pumas faced each other after a very negative week for both of them. In one hand UNAM had a horrible Sunday where they blew a one goal lead against Leon and in the middle of the week their president left the team and took money with him leaving them in financial troubles. In the other hand Los Gallos Blancos had an embarrassing end of a match against San Luis where their fans got into a rumble with the other teams fans, receiving negative criticism by the media and punishments by the league

The match began intensely on the Pumas side with Juan Iturbe shooting from outside of the box with a powerful and low shot. Slowly the dynamic of the game changed and the majority of the possession turned to Querétaro. In the 26th minute Jordan Sierra scored a complicated penalty kick that took the referee a few minutes in the VAR to decide whether it was inside or outside of the box. Unfortunately for away team the ref decided to call a penalty kick. Three minutes passed by until Ake Loba took on all the feline defenders and scored with a powerful shot. This was also a controversial play that took the ref to he VAR because of a potential foul by Ake Loba on Alan Mozo however the referee decided for the 2-0. The Mexico City team showed a little improvement after the two goals getting closer to open of the score on their side but Gil Acala appeared solid in the back

The away team started the second half with confidence and once again was close to scoring the first goal of the even but the defense was able to block their attempts. The last few minutes of the second half was played in the middle with Pumas touching the ball around but not creating many chances. When it was least expected, Enrique Triverio scored the third and final goal for the home team in the 82nd minute. This killed all the hope that UNAM had to at least tie the game.

With this loss, the team led by Michel ends outside of a liguilla spot. Pumas doors for liguilla age closing and they might have another failed tournament embarrassing themselves and their history. On the other hand, Querétaro places in second spot and almost assuring their spot in the play offs.
