Querétaro Regain Their Form With a Dominate Win Over Veracruz 5-0
After a humbling 4-0 loss to Leon on Saturday, Querétaro took all their aggression out on Veracruz. Veracruz has not won a match all season and they would not come close tonight against the Liga MX elite.
The first half went as expected as Querétaro scored their first three goals of the match. Their first goal came from a direct shot from Marcel Ruiz in the 19th minute.
The next two goals came from Aké Loba, in the 36th and 47th minute, taking a commanding 3-0 lead in the first half. Querétaro quickly sunk the Tiburones spirits, who had little to no bite.
The second half did not change the tide for Veracruz and Querétaro, who scored their fourth goal, thanks to Paolo Yrizar in the 61st minute. Paolo took the shot from the distance and nailed the top right of the net for the commanding lead.
In the 84th minute, the final and decisive goal came off a set play from mid-fielder Alonso Escoboza. Los Gallos could have added a few more goals, but in the end, they reigned supreme.
Querétaro will face off against another struggling team, Puebla, on September 1st, while Veracruz will look for their first win against Morelia on August 30th.
