The Union stumble with 2-0 defeat in New York

The Philadelphia Union lost 2-0 today to the New York Red Bulls. Philadelphia failed to mount a comeback after falling behind 1-0 in the 32nd minute and giving up another goal in stoppage time.

Marco Fabian returned to action after last week’s “suspension” but failed to make an impact on the game. Fabian checked into the game in the 75th minute for Mark McKenzie, who suffered an injury. In 15 minutes of action, the Mexican international took 1 shot at goal and committed a foul. With the MLS Cup Playoffs fast approaching, it will be imperative that Fabian regains his form to add another dimension to the Union’s attack.

Today’s result will give the Union 52 points with 3 games remaining in the regular season. Philadelphia will travel to San Jose on Wednesday to face the San Jose Earthquakes. San Jose will be without Manager Matias Almeyda after he was sent off in their last game against Atlanta.
