THREE THINGS EL TRI SHOULD AVOID VS THE USA

World Cup Qualifiers are back, and Mexico will kick off its last three games against their archnemesis the United States. El Tri has not beaten the Yankees since 2019 and has lost three games in a row. This game, however, is at home, where the USA has never won. The table seems to be set for Mexico to get revenge on the Americans, but here are three things, they should avoid in order to get the win.

DON’T GET CUTE

Let’s get one thing straight, Mexico will qualify for the Qatar 2022 World Cup. But, now is not the time to experiment. Tata needs to come out in his traditional 4-3-3 attack formation, and play his hot hand early. That means the midfield of Alvarez, HH, and Charlie needs to start, along with Tecatito, Chucky, and Raul Jimenez up top. No tricks, just straightforward futbol!

DON’T GET DESPERATE

While every Mexico fans want El Tri to wallop the USA, the team cant get desperate or anxious. A draw in this game is a good thing, a loss is not. Avoiding the urge to go all out and remaining patient is key. The US squad is young and athletic and will not tire easily, so patience will be key.

AVOID THE ROPE A DOPE

Reports indicate that the USA will look to bunker down and park the bus in El Azteca. Getting at least a point will be in their best interest, so don’t look for them to take too many risks. However, this doesn’t mean that the US’s attack will be non-existent, Tata’s men need to remain disciplined and not get sucked in. If they move too many men forward, the American’s counter-attack will be deadly with Pulisic and Weah running at a high backline.

Again, to reiterate, El Tri will qualify for the World Cup. They need a minimum of 5 points to qualify and will have matches at Honduras and at home against El Salvador, two squads with nothing to play for. So a draw and even a loss to the Yankees won’t be the worst result, Tata just needs to be smart.
