Tigres continue to dominate in Liga MX

Tigres continued the excellent performances they had shown during the CONCACAF Champions League during the week and defeated Querétaro 4-1 to climb to the top of the Mexican League in the 2019 Clausura, with 26 points.

After seven minutes, the team coached by Ricardo Ferretti scored the first goal of the game. Julián Quiñones defeated the Gallo’s goalkeeper with a header after receiving a pass from Luis Quiñones.

Just five minutes later, Carlos Salcedo increased the advantage in a corner kick with another header that couldn’t be stopped by Navarro, and the local squad was easily erasing the visitor team from the field. Gallos Blancos were unable to react during the first half.

After the first half which appeared more like a training session, Tigres remembered that their team is one of the most expensive ones in the continent and attacked with no mercy: In the 53th minute, they repeated the first goal formula as Luis Quiñones moved the ball throughout his left side and Julián Quiñones increased the lead with another header.

Querétaro, coached by Víctor Manuel Vucetich, tried to react and, in the 69th minute, Ake Loba scored their only goal of the match after a good combination among three players that began in their left side of the field.

When the Rooster tried to survive, the Tiger was decided to hunt and, just four minutes after the Gallos’ goal, the Chilean Edu Vargas received the ball after a combination made among almost all his teammates and Nicolás Navarro was unable to stop the shot from getting the fourth goal of the night.

Tigres has lost just one game during this tournament and overtook Leon at the top of the chart, however, this can only last a few hours because the team from Guanajuato will face Veracruz tomorrow and the squad from “El Puerto Jarocho” is even weaker than Querétaro.
