Tigres defeats San Luis to make it 4 in a row!
Just as you thought that Liga MX couldn’t get any more interesting, Tigres jumps into action and puts themselves in a four-game winning streak as they take down Atletico San Luis.
What seemed to be a slow game initially became a goal-fest in the second half with an amazing performance, and some personal stats were brought to light as well. Let’s dive into the goals scored and what came out from tonight’s matchup.
With a goal from Julián Quiñones at the 61st minute, it opened up the scoreboard following an excellent, yet defensive first half on both ends. The second goal was a penalty taken by André-Pierre Gignac after a handball in the box. It happened to be his 200th appearance with the team from Nuevo Leon and summed a total of 121 goals after going four games without one, which was putting a lot of pressure on the Frenchman but finally was able to put that bad streak to rest.
The third goal came late into the compensation time as Eduardo Vargas sealed the match. He made it three to zero with a goal at the 93rd minute as Tigres made this match look easy, giving them that four-game win streak and only one point away from Pumas, who is in fourth place at the moment and putting San Luis dead last in the standing in the tournament.
In their next matchups, the team from Nuevo Leon will have is against Cruz Azul on October 17th in the ever so graceful and iconic Estadio Azteca. Meanwhile, San Luis will be taking on Queretaro on October 15th at the Estadio Alfonso Lastras.
