Top 10 Goals in the History of El Clasico Joven
Cruz Azul and America are the two best teams in the 2021 Guard1anes Clausura tournament so far. Cruz Azul, as leader with 12 wins and only 2 losses, faces off this weekend against Club America, who have 11 wins, 1 draw and 2 losses. An America victory would put the “Aguilas” as the new leader.
In recent years, America has beaten Cruz Azul in decisive matches, such as in the two finals played in 2013 and 2018. This time around however, Cruz Azul is arriving in better shape.
Historically the balance is in favor of America, with 64 victories for America, 63 draws and 55 victories for Cruz Azul. Throughout the years great players have participated in the “Clasico Joven”, as it is called, such as top scorers Carlos Hermosillo, Salvador Cabañas, Paco Palencia, Cuauhtémoc Blanco, Christian Gimenez and “Zague”. These lethal strikers have scored some of the 499 goals in the history of this head-to-head match.
As a warm-up in anticipation of this weekends match, we bring you our picks for top 10 goals in the history of this rivalry:
