Vega leads Chivas to Copa MX comeback victory over Santos with two late goals

Chivas Rayadas del Guadalajara was finally able to get the hump after Santos Laguna after defeating Los Laguneros in Copa MX with two goals from Alexis Vega. Las Chivas had not beaten Santos in nearly two years. The last victory Los Tapatios had over the team from Torreon also took place in this tournament.

Chivas was able to avenge their first-week defeat against Santos, but it didn’t appear as though that was going to be the case early in the match. After falling behind 1-0 in the scoreboard, it appeared as though Chivas was going to succumb to Santos once again.

Chivas, however, fought back and regained control of the midfield. Tomas Boy pushed his line forward and late in the game, the hero, Alexis Vega, showed up. The skillful midfielder showed why he’s one of the tremendous young promises of this Guadalajara team. Alexis scored back-to-back goals in 82nd and 85th minutes to give Chivas and Tomas Boy a much-needed victory.

The result gives Chivas a boost of confidence as they get ready to face San Luis this upcoming weekend in their next Liga MX showdown.
