Vela scores 12th goal as LAFC wins in Columbus!
LAFC forward Carlos Vela scored his league-leading 12th goal of the season and the Angelenos defeated the Columbus Crew 3-0 on the road.
Vela continued his MVP type campaign as he scored the final goal of the game in the 90th minute to seal the deal for the team from Los Angeles. LAFC took a lead in the 37th minute when Mark-Anthony Kaye put one in the back of the net. The home team had a couple of opportunities to tie things up but were unsuccessful and the teams went to the locker rooms with LAFC up 1-0.
The teams were evenly matched to start the second half, as both created dangerous plays. Despite coming close on several opportunities, neither team would get on the board until finally, in the 88th minute of the game Adama Diomandé scored after Carlos Velas’ shot attempt crashed into the upper left post, but Diomandé would pick up the rebound and score to give LAFC a 2-0 lead. In the 90th minute, Vela would get his redemption. The Mexican star dribble the ball through several Columbus players and fired off a blazing left-footed shot from outside the box that beat the Crew’s keeper and made it 3-0, the final score.
