Vela’s hat-trick moves him to the top of the MEXtranjeros Super 5

There was a lot of activity for the MEXtranjeros following the International FIFA break, and for the first time since the list debuted, we have a new number one!

5. Jonathan dos Santos – LA Galaxy

Jonathan joins our Super 5 after scoring his first international goal after Mexico defeated Paraguay. He shined in the midfield and offered an assist for Mexico’s third goal. Jonathan also played part in Galaxy’s 2-1 victory over the Portland Timbers.

4. Javier “Chicharito” Hernández – West Ham United

Chicharito, Mexico’s all time goal scorer, made his mark after scoring in the 4-2 win against Paraguay. Following his return to back to the Premier League, he and the Hammers suffered a loss against Everton, as he was subbed in the beginning of the second half.

3. Hirving “Chucky” Lozano – PSV Eindhoven

El Chucky was a nightmare for Chile, scoring a goal in the first friendly of the Mexican national team this past week. Although Chucky played the entire game, he couldn’t help his squad from losing against their arch rivals, Ajax, who played with 10 players in the second half.

2. Raul Jimenez – Wolverhampton Wolves

After weeks of being ranked first on our list, Jimenez drops down to second. During international duty, Jimenez scored a penalty in the win over Chile. With Wolverhampton, Jimenez came off the bench in the 59th minute but wasn’t able to prevent his team from losing 2-0 to Burnley.

1. Carlos Vela – Los Angeles Football Club

Vela claims the top spot on rankings for the first time! After giving a stunning performance with a hat-trick and assist against the San Jose Earthquakes on the road, there was no doubt Vela would be our number one MEXtranjero for the week. Vela leads with the most goals currently in the MLS season with six.
