Your Weekend Watchlist by ETO
As another weekend full of fútbol action kicks off in Liga MX and around the world, the editors at ETO know your fines de semana can get busy, so we’ve narrowed down which games are must-have on your watchlist and when and how to watch them. Here are our picks for our ETO Weekend Watchlist:
SATURDAY, MARCH 13
Liga MX
- Cruz Azul vs Monterrey, 7pmPST on TUDN : If Cruz Azul wants to remain as Súper Líder, they’ll have to get past El Vasco’s Monterrey. A loss here for La Maquina opens the door for America to overtake them and claim 1st place with a win Sunday against archrival Chivas.
Mextranjeros
- Getafe vs Atletico Madrid, 12pmPST BeinñSports : Hector Herrera will be back with Atleti this weekend as they visit Getafe. While los Colchoneros are eight points clear of Barcelona, Barca is still Barca so Atleti would be wise in not dropping points needlessly.
Rest of the World
- Premier League- Leeds vs Chelsea, 4:30amPST NBCSN: If el Loco Bielsa’s team are known for anything it’s for having heart. So up they go against Chelsea where fans are eager to see Thomas Tuechel finally start making more use of U.S.A wonderboy, Christian Pulisic.
SUNDAY, MARCH 14
Liga MX
- Guadalajara vs Club America, 7pmPST on Telemundo: El Súper Clásico needs no explanation for why it’s a must watch if you’re a fan of Liga MX. This year America comes in with the advantage and will be looking to combine a win here with a Cruz Azul loss which would allow las Águilas to claim 1st place in league. - Milan vs Napoli, 12:45pmPST ESPN+: El Chucky Lozano and Napoli face against 2nd place AC Milan and Zlatan. Both teams are in desperate need of a win here; AC Milan in order to cut distances between them and Inter and Napoli need more wins if they intend to compete in Champions or Europa League next year.
- PSV vs Feyenoord, 6:30amPST ESPN+: Erick Gutierrez has been seeing more and more action as the weeks progress. PSV needs a win here to shorten the gap to league leaders Ajax where Edson Alvarez has been doing a tremendous job in midfield.
Rest of the World
- Premier League- Arsenal vs Tottenham, 9:30amPST NBCSN: The North London Derby is always a fun one and with Jose Mourinho involved this one won’t disappoint. Arsenal have been abysmal this season and Tottenham need to rack up wins if they want to break into the top 5.
- Bundesliga- RB Leipzig vs Eintracht Frankfurt, 7:30amPST ESPN+: If RB Leipzig wants to stay within arm’s reach of Bayern, they need to pick up this win against a Frankfurt who in turn is desperately trying to keep themselves in Champions League standing.
- Ligue 1- Monaco vs Lille, 9:05amPST BeinSports: League leading Lille faces off against 4th place Monaco. This is a do-or-die game for Lille as a loss here leaves 1st place wide open for PSG or Marseille to swoop up on it. In the meantime, Eugenio Pizzuto has slowly been receiving more call ups for Lille though he has yet to make his debut.
